Punk's not Dead

Second in our pink wall series is this little punk guy (I think that it's actually a girl) and is one of my favorites. Its size is about 15x15 cm.

Kittens

Since we are in the Cihangir district, let's stay there. Found in the upper part of the 'Alçakdam Yokusu' near the Cihangir Park. Cihangir's symbol is actually a cat. Even though you will see cats everywhere in the streets in Istanbul, you will see more in Cihangir since they have become its emblem. On this special stairway, I once counted 47 cats with many kittens. People take care of them, feed them, heal them. There is even a sign asking you to leave a not if you ever take a kitten from there so that they will know what happened to it.
It's four separate stencils side by side, one's size is approximately 20x10 cm.









Part of the plaster fell recently, so it's just one kitten left now.

Silence, please.

Cihangir district, in 'Kumrulu Yokusu' up the stairs on the right. It looks like the pictures they hang in hospital of a nurse on it asking us to keep it quiet. Its size is about 35x25 cm.

Brush it !

We are again in the Cihangir district in the beginning of 'Lenger Sokak'. This looks like a shoe brush with the mention 'firçala' (firt chala) below it meaning 'brush' but not as a noun, as an order. Its size is about 25x20 cm.

Bomb

This one is one of the biggest stencil I've seen in Turkey. It is about 5 feet tall. It was found on a wall in the Findikli district at the beginning of the Mebusan Yokusu by the first stairway (Hardal Sokak) on the left. It looks like the one from Banksy and his little girl with the bomb.

I really like this one. It was found on a 'pipe' in the street in Le Marais district, 'rue du Marché des Blancs-Manteaux'.

Those 2 were actually side by side, found at the end of an alley in Le Marais again, right here.
