Kristal Horoz

I found this one in Jurnal Sokak near Tünel close to the Asmali Mescit Sokak along with this one and some others. This small Rooster (about 15x15cm) has the words Kristal Horoz written above it. "Kristal" meaning "cristal" and "Horoz" meaning "rooster". Unfortunately, this one is no more.
I checked to find out what it was about but could not find any information about it, is it a brand ? is a reward ? what is it?Anyone knows ?

Jesus

Also found in Kartal Street along with many others : Mickey Mouse, Working Bunny or the Butterfly... You can also see three other stencils on that wall. Three I already posted about : the "Kreş" one from the music band, the "Chiquita Banana" one and the 645 editing house.
This black stencil is about 20x30 cm.

Pink Couple

Another A4 formatted stencil found in Cihangir, in Palaska Sokak. I don't believe the couple is famous. I guess it's the artist with his girlfriend/her boyfriend.

Blue in the Face

This blue face can be seen around in the Cihangir District. About 40x30 cm. Does anyone knows whose face it is ?

ExoCiti

If you take a look at the post from 2 days ago you can see 3 different stencils on the wall. One of them is "Exociti", you can see some in the Cihangir Area as well. Especially in the Turnacıbaşı street but most of them have been "terminated" by now. Made with an A5 formated stencil, exociti would be a purposed mispelling of the word exocity. "Exo" meaning "outside", "city" meaning "city".

This A4 format orange stencil of U.S. president G. W. Bush portrayed as a belligerent, a money lover and a nazi was found in hte Cihangir district.

Spiral Hand

I found those hands in the Beyoglu District around Taksim.

This one was (is no more) on a marble step near the Galatasary Turkish Bath











This double colored one was (is no more) in Kartal Sokak near the Urban Café.











This reverse one is (still) near Tünel by the public bathroom along with some others.

Butterfly

As the anarchist Mickey Mouse and some others, I found this one in Kartal Street, near the Urban café/bar. This is a small one too. About 15x15 cm.

Festus Okey

A while ago I posted some stencils that were all on the same pink wall (and previous posts). Well they recently painted the whole building so you cannot see those stencils anymore. On the new paint someone did this one of Festus (Faustus) Okey (there is another one near the Istiklal street). On the writing you can read his name and below it : "Rest in Peace".
Festus Okey was from Nigeria and lived in Istanbul with a fake I.D. He was arrested in August of 2007 in possession of cocaine ready for sell. He was arrested and taken to the Beyoglu Police Station were he was accidently shot by the policeman Festus was supposedly trying to take the gun from.
the Contemporary Lawyers' Association has accused the Istanbul Police Department of influencing judiciary institutions and trying to cover up the murder. (News).

Expose

This one was spotted in "Jurnal" street around the Asmali Mescit Street. This is not more since they've renovated the building. But I really like its composition and the story it tells. 20x15 cm.

De Niro

This is a bad stencil of Robert De Niro. Let's not say bad but with poor details. What movie is this scene taken out from ? hmm ? I ask you.... A4 format stencil in the Beyoglu District.

Mad Monkey

Found in the upper Besiktas district, around Yildiz. you can still see one or two around the bridge. A4 formated 2 layered stencil.

Super Mario

I saw this one near the Tünel District, at the end of the Istiklal Street opposite of Taksim Square. Super Mario is saying : "Höyt" which could be translated as ... I don't know, something like ... "Oy !" maybe. The sticker underneath is a left over from the 2007 Labour Day in Istanbul. For a closer look at the sticker, click here.

Depeche Mode in Taksim

Those three were found on the Istiklal Street or around in the Taksim District. They're already missing in action.

Mickey is an anarchist

This one was also found in the Kartal Street (see previous post), on the opposite wall. We can see a happy mickey mouse saying "Anarchy rules", my interpretation of course. About 25x25 cm.

Rabbit Worker

This little working rabbit was seen in the Galatasaray District near Taksim, Kartal Street. It's size is about 20x20 cm. A lot of other stencils can be seen in this street although many have already been "erased".

Doberman

This dog can be seen around the Cihangir district. About 20x20 cm.

Those two were spotted in an alley by chance while driving in the Göztepe area, in the Asian part of Istanbul. Two different 8.

Tow Truck

This one is between Findikli and cihangir in front of an elementary school facing the Cihangir Yoga school and Film School. It's funny they did that here, when the city painted the walls they painted around the stencils in order to leave them there. The inscription below says "your car will be towed". 50x30cm.

Lamborghini

Like the previous one, this is in Findikli, actually on the next wall. 40x15cm.

Friends

Findikli District near Kabatas, down the Taksim area. 150x180 cm
This is the biggest stencil I've ever seen in Turkey and it's pretty good. One of my favorite 'til now.

Dancing samurai Twins

This one was seen in the lower Cihangir district, above Tophane. Its size is about 60x40 cm.

Karate Girl

Cihangir district, 15x20 cm.

The Joker

Found in many places, especially in the Nişantaşı area. I liked this one better because of the added text. 70x50cm.

Back on Track

Even though I'm still having trouble connecting to Blogger, I decided to go on with it anyway. I'll be able to post from work every days, I hope. I've missed posting on this blog. Welcome back !
